Friendship With Communion

Friendship With Communion

Did I ever tell you
What I saw when I
Looked out the shuttered
Window at the breeze blown pine

Did I ever tell you
How peaceful and thoughtful
I feel
When the sun dances
Shadows on the afternoon wall

Have we given each other
The things which are free
Which bring out the poetry of the soul
And somehow make us sure

When did we last slow down
And concentrate on internalizing
Invaluable gifts of shared
Thoughts, impressions and feelings
Of moments in time extracted from the
Hurried flow
Precious moments of calmness

I know it's all there
Because once in awhile
It touches me so I can't forget
And it's then I know that
The underlying current
That unobtrusive peacefulness
Is what life is all about
The trick being to latch on
And get in tune with it
And grow with the strength gained

Just stop and realize how much
More we could see, savor and
Know if we just stopped long
Enough to share the sun
Coming through the leaves and let
If flow from you to me to you
And envelope us in the mainstream
Of what life is all about!

Please share with me what your
Eyes see
And I will share with you.
Together we will know
The touch of life upon our souls
Indelible because we're there.

And By His Stripes We Are Healed

And By His Stripes We Are Healed

Many of us have read the physician’s account of what happened during the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It was something even this RN could not get clinical about and then to think He did that just for you and for me. To say that sacrifice “boggles the mind” would not begin to touch the subject.
Are there things in your past that are raw and hurting like they happened today? Do you suffer from something that traumatized your emotions, your physical self or your family?

The Lord Jesus can gently take you by the hand and bring forth a healing process that will set you free. How can I say this with certainty? I know from personal experience as there were shattered parts of my life that the Lord Jesus Christ has made whole. Those pieces of my life that were not even recognizable as anything but shattered pieces. The “me” which came out of those pieces walking hand-in-hand with Jesus is more whole and complete than I had been to start with before the fragmentation. I have also experienced physical healing on occasions. My doctor has the before photos on my chart and I am living proof of the “after”. HE is able.

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

Several years ago I sat with notebook in hand and wrote the following that I felt He was placing on my heart:
Oh, my daughter, there is so much for you to learn. Healing flows not undimmed by human tears, where freedom is found. Allow Jesus access. His healing balm flows through you.

Daughter there are others who need my touch where you are. I will bring them to you and as you lift me up they shall know deliverance and health in my name.

See my life flow freely forth, beauty out of ashes. Your scars can heal others as I have healed you. Don't cover them up (scars) share in love.

In 2Corinthians 1:4 the Bible is speaking of Jesus saying that He comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

Although that particular scripture is a tongue twister it is full of promise and meaning. I have seen His faithfulness to that scripture in my own life over and over.

In James 5:16 we are encouraged to confess our trespasses to one another, to pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
That is generic for mankind and also applies to us gals.
In 1 Corinthians 14:3 the gift or prophesy is mentioned “But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.” (NKJV)

Romans 15:5 exhorts us to be look at God who is the God of patience and comfort that He might grant you to be like-minded towards one another, according to Christ Jesus.

All of that to say God will help us have patience and comfort each other.

In 2 Timothy 1:6 we are reminded along with Timothy to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of hands.

We have all been given gifts from God and they are to be used to encourage and reach out to others. We are His hands and arms here on earth until He comes back. What an awesome responsibility and honor!

In Isaiah 61:3 is a verse that several songs have been based upon. “To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified." (NKJV)

God is so faithful. He can and does heal today. All we need to do is ask. All we need to do is allow Him to use us to reach out to others. Can you let Him use you to be an instrument of His peace?

Prayer: Dear Father, please help us to reach out in your name. Help us to share the comfort with which You comforted us. Help us to be an unclogged vessel for your use daily, in our Jerusalem, in the most wonderful name of Jesus we ask this, AMEN.

A Tale of Twitching Sway for Kids and Childlike Adults

I saw a massive lion
While on a walk today
With honey-brown eyes
Wind ruffled mane
And a tail of twitching sway

I stayed real quiet
While I watched her
With velvet paws
And hidden claws
Breeze dancing in her fur

Watching the movement of a lemon leaf
She sneakily drew back her paw
As she let it fly
The branch fell from sky
My mouth opened wide in awe

She yawned and opened her mouth
Her whiskers leaned way back
She bellowed a roar
Got up on all four
Then started to sniff a track

Now her tawny ears
Stood up on end
Her black nose quivered
(I stood there and shivered)
Did she track foe or friend?

Not too far ahead
I saw a fuzzy black lamb
Sleeping in the sun
Quite oblivious to everyone
So quiet was the sharp clawed Ma'am

Old tawny caught the smell
She crouched, slouched and slinked
Black curly awoke
(I was about to choke)
And the lion laid down and blinked

I couldn't believe my eyes
I saw coming over the rock
A shepherd gentleman
(It was the great I AM)
Leading the rest of the flock

And then the eternal shepherd
Strode purposefully to me
"If lion will lay down with lamb
Don't you see I am the great I AM
And can permanently set you free?"

Lambs and lions vanished
I didn't want to look
He reached out His nail-scarred hand
To me, just an man
Handing me an ancient book

"Ah, Mr. Shepherd,
I won't understand that book
I'm a plain and simple man
(backing off whenever I can)
So do I have to take a look?"

I hemmed and hawed and stood on one foot
And He gave me a slow, sad smile
"You make the choice,
Summon up your voice"
"Ah, I think I'll wait for awhile..."

I backed way off
And crawled into my shell
It grew suddenly cold
I felt ancient-old
Maybe this is a kind of hell?

I couldn't even stretch
My shell so tight
I couldn't move my arm
Anyhow, I was safe from harm
Why now should I think of light?

It's so moldy black
When the Shepherd's not here
I'm incredibly sad
Was it always this bad
What's that? A small, tiny tear?

Oh ancient book
Where were you bound
I won't ask you what you say
I don't want to make a commitment today
And I am not sure I want to be found

My shell's smashing me
Not a good place to hide
It's closing in on my head
I can't even lay in my bed
No this is NOT a place to abide

Oh, Mr. Shepherd
Where are You now?
This place is do drear
Please come back here
Forgive me and show me how?

The smell in here is terrible
I wonder if it is me?
Don't make me wait
Hope I'm not too late
Please Jesus, come and set me free?

I heard soft footsteps
Far Away
Long ago Jesus died
For me, crucified
And I put Him off today

Jesus, oh Jesus,
Come rescue me
I am dying
In this grave I'm lying
Please don't "let me be"

My shell He tore open
The ransom paid
I stepped out
Looked all about
To rejoice in the commitment I'd made

With Him outside
The air was fresh and sweet
I crawled out of this shell
This horrible hell
Death without hope, terrible retreat

He was there!
Brighter than golden morning sun
Arms open wide
Showing His wounded side
And I knew He really was THE ONE!!!

I count myself among the child-like adults mentioned in this title and I am thankful for the Lord who is making most of my childish qualities a more positive "childlike"... forsake not the little children for of such is the kingdom of heaven."

Come Before God With Thanksgiving and Praise

Does it comfort you that God knows you better than anyone else. He knows us even better than we know ourselves. He made us, thought us up and loved all that made us uniquely ourselves before we were ever conceived. We have so much to be thankful for especially during this time we traditionally set aside for thankfulness. There is so much good to reflect upon as the day we remember comes closer.
He knows me, and I share that with my readers in writing what the Lord laid on my heart:

My daughter, impetuous tempest that you sometimes are, tarry. Listen to Me. Seek my wisdom in the Word. Come before me with thanksgiving and praise.

One of the most important things we can do is to seek God’s wisdom. Let’s take a look at some scriptures which speak about praise and thanksgiving. I have listed but a few as the bible is full of them.

Luke 24:49
Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” (NKJV)

Proverbs 14:6
A scoffer seeks wisdom and does not find it, But knowledge is easy to him who understands. (NKJV)

Psalm 26:7
That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, And tell of all Your wondrous works. (NKJV)

Psalm 69:30
I will praise the name of God with a song, And will magnify Him with thanksgiving. (NKJV)

1 Chronicles 29:13
“Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name. (NKJV)

Psalm 71:6
By You I have been upheld from birth; You are He who took me out of my mother’s womb. My praise shall be continually of You. (NKJV)

Prayer: We lift our voices and our hearts to You, Lord of Lords and King of Kings! We especially thank you during this Thanksgiving season in our lives, for your provision and for the journey that you are leading us through.  AMEN

I quicken
At the beckoning of the wind
Gently, through jade leaves
It stirs a longing, yearning desire
Deep within my soul
To cross the eternal river
And go home to My Father....
Yes, now, Lord Jesus, even now.

Time of Reflection

YES! We got rain beginning on our anniversary in July!

Time of Reflection

Do not rush through
This time we share
So precious to both of us both

Draw from the well
Refreshment anew
Carefully prepared for you

Allow your eyes
A lingering gaze
Upon my love filled face

As I draw you closer
To my open heart
Blessed time well spent and wise

I have spent some times in the past few days thinking about physical drought here in Colorado and times of drought in our lives, spirits and hearts. As I got quiet, the Lord Jesus placed this invitation on my heart. How do I get closer to Him? By spending time in His presence like I would with any friend. Granted, Jesus is not just “any friend”. He has also written much to encourage challenge, teach and show His love to us.
How can we not take time to read those Words he inspired to be written over the years? Once again I find myself writing a sermon to me. Does any of this also speak to you? I hope we can be challenged into taking action. There is no better place to be than right in the middle of His arms, with Him right in the middle of our lives!

Jesus, You came to visit me
When I was locked within despair
Sin slammed shut the door forever
I was truly a prisoner there

Jesus, again You looked in on me
Touched my infirmity and pain
Brought on by rejecting You
And You turned my heart again

You knocked with importunity
Until I gladly opened wide
To Your cleansing and forgiveness
And invited You inside

No longer is life a prison
With my sin sick soul inside
Jesus threw away the chains and bars
Since I choose in Him to abide

Mr. Time Out Kitty Friday Fiction

Mr. Time Out Kitty

Caleb, psst, psst, Caleb!
Come to my jungle with me
Quiet as you can be,
Shhhhh, sneaky so no one will see
Yes! Come to my jungle with me!

We can have FUN and play,
And hide up here ALL day,
And look for us they may
Think of what they will say

Tika and Katy have been here too
One time only, said “that’ll do”
They hopped and jumped, down they flew
Why don’t those girls like anything new?

And Stormy’s not a jumpin’ guy,
Never been up not even for a fly,
I flicked my tail and said “bye”
Hopping to my place on high

Guess we could invite Lily too
She’d like to play just like you!
It’s a quiet day with nothin’ to do
So come with me, just you two!

Oh, oh, here comes Mama now
Think she’ll notice us? Oh, wow,
Get down quickly, oh but how?
She’s all steamed up, gonna have a cow!

Mama’s mad and in a rage
Now I’m doin’ time out in a cage
What happens next? Read the page,
I might just be here ‘til OLD AGE.

"Does Hooney learn, does Hooney grow?
After all these years, you’d think he’d know
He’s always a show off, puttin’ on a show
And it is always “into the cage you go,
Mr. Time Out Kitty"

Cold Heart

Written some time ago after some self examination....

Cold Heart

Lord God, my heart is so cold in so many areas of my life.
Help me be on fire/fervent in my love for and life with You
To pursue agape love with my husband
Line up my heart, thoughts and actions

Lord, the Lost,
I’ve never had a burden for “the Lost”
Only individual persons who are lost
And I haven’t carried those with much diligent effort
Purify my heart, Lord Jesus?!!

I have great news! I tried to get much of my work published back in the 1970s and got one piece that I wasn't even thrilled with published and paid for and then, many rejection notices. This time about 3 years ago when I began posting pieces online and writing many, many more I prayed and told the Lord I was doing this to shine a spotlight on Him. If He wanted me to get published in a book He would need to do it.

Since then much has happened. I got one Christmas piece chosen and published in an anthology last year. I didn't submit it to any publishers either. Now a couple of writing friends have approached me to publish possibly several of my potential books. We are focusing on my devotional first. I am thrilled. This is not self publishing but a hard copy published by the publisher book complete with editing by them also.

God is SO good. I have heard you need to collect at least 100 rejection notices to be a "real writer" and I haven't collected them but will have soon had 4 of my writings padi for and published. Giving our Lord all the praise!

Will keep you posted as to where the book can be purchased (it will be on Amazon, Barnes and Noble for hard copies along with my publisher's website and various other places for e-books, kindle etc. This will be a devotional.

Please pray for me during this time of editing and polishing this up?

How to Get a Better Night's Sleep

How to Get a Better Night's Sleep

Do you have problems falling and staying asleep? Are you a clock watcher thinking I have to get up in 6 hours and I am still wiggling, tossing and turning? Maybe there are some little things that you haven't considered that would help you sleep quickly, safely and even for eight hours!

1. Things you eat may be affecting your sleep patterns.
They have found a new gene which many have that affects the way caffeine is metabolized. No, you are not crazy if you have morning caffeine and then either can't sleep or sleep 4 hours and BOING.... eyes open and wide awake that evening. People with this gene do not metabolize caffeine "normally" and that means it is in their system longer and stronger than other people. It can also contribute to causing heart attacks in these people. Decaf coffee is not necessarily totally decaffeinated either. Taking a multi vitamin later in the day can cause sleeplessness. Eating and snacking after dinner can affect your level of rest. If you are wondering about the effect on your body of any of the above try going without (coffee, sodas with caffeine, tea with caffeine) for 1-2 weeks and see if it makes a difference. You might want to wean yourself off caffeine gradually to avoid headaches and typical caffeine withdrawls.

2. Sleep aids with few side effects.
The old wives tale about a cup of warm milk might not be so far off base. There is calcium and magnesium in milk and those two are nature's natural tranquilizer. You can also take equal amounts of calcium (like 600 mg) and magnesium at bedtime to help. Benadryl has long been given for allergic reactions and itching but makes most people drowsy. One at bedtime can do wonders (for 4 hours) to help get you to sleep or if you awaken in the middle of the night. A warm bath or shower before bedtime can also help to settle you down. Avoid exercise too close to bedtime but do exercise during the day if possible. Even walking helps. Reading before sleep can calm you down and make for a restful night so long as you aren't reading an edge of the seat thriller.

3. Don't let the sun go down on your anger.
Some good advice about emotional and relationships would be to settle arguments and disagreements before trying to doze off. When you are upset you shoot adrenalin (the flight or fight mechanism in our bodies is alive and well). With adrenalin flowing it is very difficult to become restful. There are also many scriptures in the Bible about sleep and rest. Prayer and talking to God can definitely help to get you ready for a peaceful sleep.

Many of us covet getting a good eight hours of sleep a night and it has been way too long since we have had that luxury. Sleep is a necessity and should be available to all if you take a look at things you eat, things which can help calm you and your emotions before your head hits the pillow.

Enter Into His Presence

Enter Into His Presence

My Lord,
Calm my busy mind
So that I might praise and worship You
With all my being
And not just 20 minutes of my morning...
Jesus, forgive me
That's less than 1/60th of my day
YOU are my peace
I desire to come before You!!

I pray to focus on You
And let You move through me
Sometimes I reach out in Your name
And Your glory I see

A lot of times I'm all caught up
In buzzing here or there
I seem to shift out of Your presence
Into overdrive unaware

Lord Jesus, I desire
A quiet focus of my soul
So at ALL times I'm aware and moving in YOU
Totally yielded SELF is my goal

Help me not to disconnect
Or shift out of gear, I pray
I commit my feet totally to Your path
Keep me steadfastly there each day

Help me, oh help me
Father God, I pray
Not my way, but Thine
Every minute of every hour of each day!!

Has It Been Too Long?

My child, it had been so long since you have come away to really rest in my arms and be renewed.

Is there a need? Do you see/sense emptiness?

Do you hear me not, though I am ever present? Listen.

Be still and know that I am God.
Be still and know the great I AM.
Come away my beloved and selah. (Pause and think calmly)

Is the Lord Jesus whispering to your heart? He only pursues you because he loves you so. He is not shaking a stick at you nor wanting to punish you. Punishing ourselves is something we do well enough on our own by not seeking Him, not taking time to “be still and know that He is God.” But there is hope, there is choice and there is JOY to be had in His presence even yet today!

Psalms 46:10 encourages us to be still and know that He is God. It goes on to say I (God) will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

There are places where this is still happening. Is your home one of those places? It can be, beginning today, right now with you!

In Exodus 15:26 the Bible says if you listen carefully to the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all is decrees, I (God) will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you.

What a wonderful promise we have just in that one verse. How can we listen carefully to God’s voice? Read His Word, pray, LISTEN in the quiet place, hear what he has to say from those in authority over you, those who “cover” you and listen to what he is laying on your heart lining it up with His Word.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to learn (again) to be still and listen to You; all knowledge, wisdom of the ages, all love.  I am sometimes empty and you are Fullness personified! AMEN

Sent One Devotional amplified (Words from the Lord Series)

Not a sheep but close

Let’s look at a couple of biblical characters. David spent years herding sheep. Moses spent forty years in the desert. Jesus was a carpenter for 30 years before beginning his “ministry” which lasted all of 3 years. Why is it we think we are supposed to be like tea in the microwave, 2 ½ minutes prep and we are done. Nope, I have found that we are not that instant and delicious cuppa tea. We are more valuable to God than that. We take T-I-M-E, time to learn, grow and become a bit more mature than we were last year or last decade. Does that thought send chills through you like it does me? No, not thrilling chills but chills of dread. What, I have to WAIT. I can’t be and know and GO! Ahh, Lord, why do I have to be stuck here with these smelly sheep? They are sorta dumb and don’t get it…. what do you mean they are like their shepherd, do you mean ME?

Then, once again I hear that very still, small, patient voice speaking to me, the one with the folded over ears following the wooly tail in front of me:

Let not your heart be troubled. I will give you direction and prepare your way. You shall go forth in My name and My time. Be not alarmed. I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say. Forget not the widows and orphans in their need. Rest and be not dismayed for I shall unfold and clarify for you. Reach out in My strength. I love you and want to love them through you. Selah. It is in My timing, I won’t send you un prepared not overwhelmed with fear. There is a time to get ready. Not all done for Me is on instant impulse. I would not ask that which I couldn’t/wouldn’t equip you to do. You SHALL know the timing soon, WAIT, be open and ready. Selah.

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. (NIV)

[ God's Angel to Prepare the Way ] "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. (NIV)

Pass through, pass through the gates! Prepare the way for the people. Build up, build up the highway! Remove the stones. Raise a banner for the nations. (NIV)

Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say." (NIV)

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (NIV)

Prayer: Dearest Jesus, almost every word in your Word holds promise and hope – thank you for placing them there for us to encourage, instruct and help us get up and go on.  Thank you for your perfect timing and that you don’t ask us or send us unprepared. Thank you for going before us and preparing the way and leading in your most incredible footsteps.  AMEN

Yes, I am ready for springtime already!

Purple iris fields, flags waving
Bearded orange, lavender and yellow
Smelling of springtime now released
To blow across my mind, mellow

They have flipped the pages
Bringing memories of years
Magical movement of my life
Calendar fast forward mirrors

Breathing deep of iris grape
With springtime growth anew
Living in that breath of space
While gazing at perfect hue

And I wonder, oh, I wonder
At the creator’s hand
As He fashioned unique iris
With its furry, bearded band

Grape kool aid scented flowers
Trigger recall of past days
Grandparents in our lives then
Now fading in distanced haze

Their delicate and spotted hands
Reaching out, me, to touch
The little one at their side
Who misses them now so much

Each time I smell iris scent
Memories those petals renew
Recall comes so quickly
Of my loves who’ve gone to You.

Purple iris fields of flags
Will always captivate me
A delicate thing of beauty
Until Your face I see.
