Does God Care If I Accidentally Hit "Delete"?

Oops!

Sorry, you are GONE. I mistakenly hit the delete button on your life. What do you mean can’t I hit undo? I don’t know HOW to hit undo. No it would cost too much money to get a computer repairman in here and my allowance just simply will not cover that, at least not this week.

What do you mean that God wouldn’t let anyone simply delete YOU? Who do you think you are that you are THAN important to God?

Of course I can hear you – I can hear you thinking. Sorry, I am getting tired and want to bug my mommy for a popsicle– cherry is my very favorite. Oops, I hit the WRONG button again. See ya.
What a strange person. What weird ideas. They think that God actually cares about them being deleted. I made an “oopsie” mistake, that’s all.

“Chaton WHAT are you doing in there – you are being way too quiet and you haven’t finished any of your duties for today yet. Turn off that computer and come on to the work room right now!”

Darn, I knew she’d find me too soon! And I did so want that cherry popsicle – they are all I have to live for anymore – harrumph.

“Chaton I don‘t think you are listening at all today.  Tell me now what we discussed earlier that you needed to accomplish.”

“MEOW”

“That’s what I thought you are being evasive and focused somewhere else one more time.”

“Be careful, God might not care if I hit your delete-oopsie button” – I tried to say under my breath.
“Chaton, I can’t hear you when you are always muttering so please speak up!”

Chaton, Chaton, Chaton…. You’d think I was the only one for her to focus upon… and I still think it mighty strange that oopsie delete person thinks that God even cares a bit about them and I don’t think they know anything I don’t know…..

“Dowdy, have you ever heard about a God thing who actually cared about an oopsie delete?”

“Chaton, what did you do now? And yes, a long, long time ago there was a life story about a God thing who cared but that was way before we came into being. Quit avoiding your chores!”

“If I do all my work really well do you know how to “undelete” or do an “undo”? AND can I have a cherry popsicle?”

“I suppose I can help you but what in the world have you been playing with today? And why are you asking about a God thing which actually cares?”

“Well, I really did delete someone today but they think that there is a God thing who is caring about that….”

“You did WHAT?! Come on and let’s go look at your computer right now.”

“Before I do my work?”

“Yes, Chaton, before you do your work unless you want the God thing to be really upset with us all.”

“You mean the God thing really, really does care about that person I accidentally did “oopsie delete”?

“I am thinking that we’d best not mess with this and find out the hard way!”

UNDO – turned out to be the easiest and best button on my computer. AND it worked. Maybe the God thing does care. Forever more careful, Chaton – MEOW.

None Forgetting You, God

None Forgetting You, God

Pirouette of black eyed sun flowers on their stems
Dancing my garden through
In pokey yellow bonnets lifting praise petals
Skyward towards You

Breeze blown trees fluttering coin-like leaves
Soon to reflect orange bright
Rustling their hearts, speaking wind whispered song
Dancing with all their might

Meadow grasses bending low with seed
Feeding squirrel , winged bird and twins with doe,
Velvet antlered elk yet running through
This corner of the world created by the God we know

You’ve blessed us with sights abundant
Let us feel your present hand
We can do nothing but return praise to You
Overflowing   heart gratefulness from this woman and man

Mick and I are so totally blessed to be able to live in the middle of this mountain meadow some would call “remote”, we simply call it home. We thank our Lord Jesus for being here each and every day!

On Prolonging It

On Prolonging It

There comes a time when words fail
Actions seem insincere
But thoughts keep coming on

Maybe it would be better
If the thread of hope were cut
Cleanly and quickly
For then it wouldn’t be dangling there
To be torn off later

Is there a chance
The whole could be re-knit
From just one small thread?

“All good things must come to an end
Autumn leaves must fall
But don’t you know
That it hurts me so
To say goodbye to you….”

Maybe it would be better
To make a clean break now
If it is to be
Then our paths will cross again
It is best if all wounds heal
Before we try to be even friends
It is best not to pour salt
On open wounds

Oh how logical we can be on the outside
When on the inside we are comforted by
Salty tears, bathing our open wounds
And once again, words have failed.

(Written before I came to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior.)

New Things Devotional (Words from the Lord Series)

Child, I AM doing many new things with, in and through you. Be not alarmed, confused or bewildered. I’m still going before you and preparing your ways. Fear not, but let ME be your focus. I AM shall and has overcome all the obstacles. Reach out as I lead. Draw close to Me so that the overflow shall splash and refresh (others). I love you and am “growing you up” in Me. Know that I AM God and I Am setting you free. It takes time, one step at a time. I cherish you and delight to be your husband. Selah.

Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them.” (NKJV)

Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. (NKJV)

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (NKJV)

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord…..(NIV)

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. (NIV)

For your Maker is your husband— the LORD Almighty is his name— the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth. (NIV)

I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. (NIV)

Prayer: Dear Jesus, we sense that You are coming again SOON. Please help Your Bride, this Bride to grow up and become more like You. Thank you for straightening our the “wiggles”, wrinkles and spots – we have a long way to go. You and I have made progress over the years. Thank You for Your patience and perseverance. Sometimes I wonder how you take time with me, but You always do. You, oh Lord, are beyond comprehension to my finite mind. Thanks for continued revelation and sharing of who You are. Words cannot express my overflowing heart to You!  AMEN

Monday Manna for July 25th 2011

Our scripture for today seems to hit that nail on the head with appropriateness for the season:

"All nations before him are as nothing;and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity." (Isaiah 40:17)

Our eyes should be looking up because it seems that His coming back is oh, so very much closer! Only when our Lord is here to rule and reign will we have perfect government.

I am not sure if the world leaders right now are incapable of good government or just choosing ways which do not have the highest good of any population at heart. It seems that things are getting worse and worse with each passing minute.

However, if you balance all that out with careful reading of the scripture, especially end times scripture you know that many things which might not feel good or right need to happen and then our Lord will come back. Most of the major prophesies have been fulfilled. There is an anti-Christ. There has to be such a world-wide mess that he can come in with a one world system and take over. One world finances, money and government will be. It is in the Bible and it is a question of when. Good news, we dont have to have that all figured out but we need to be ready. Praying, staying in the Word and close to our Jesus. Learning how to listen and get direction from His Holy Spirit. We need to be growing into that beautiful Bride who will be without spot or wrinkle and telling many in our daily lives about our incredible, beautiful, freeing, powerful Lord Jesus.

We are to be light in this current darkness which grows dimmer. We need to share our hope with those who ask a reason that we have that hope within us. The Bride can choose to look to His Word and see that though this whole planet might seem to be spinning out of control, God is right on time with His eternal plans. We are part of that plan and need to take hope in Him.

We need to make sure we have oil in our lamps and be very ready for our Bridegroom.
Matthew 25 (New King James Version)
The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins
1 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.
6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming;[a] go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. 11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour[b] in which the Son of Man is coming.

We can do this and all the while be praying ending those prayers with Maranatha – come Lord Jesus!

Spiritual Warfare Prayer

2Cor10:3-5 amplified
For though we walk (live) in the flesh, we are not carrying on our warfare according to the flesh and using mere human weapons. For the weapons of our warfare are not physical weapons (weapons of flesh and blood), but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds, (in as much as we) refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the (true) knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (New King James Version)
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…..
Remembering:
The BLOOD of CHRIST is THE weapon of our warfare – most powerful in all eternity.
GREATER is HE who is in us than he who is in the world.
In our weakness His strength is made perfect.
ACTION: Ask Him to give you a person to pray for.
Ask Him what strongholds to focus upon in that person (to tear down as the Word promises and allow that person to be set free).
Then pray the scripture out loud personalized with that person’s name and stronghold/strongholds .
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (New King James Version)
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds (insert person’s name here/ list specific strongholds), 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God (in – person’s name), bringing every thought(in-person’s name – mind) into captivity to the obedience of Christ
EXAMPLE:
3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds (I TEAR DOWN THE STRONGHOLD OF UNBELIEF IN –put name of person you pray for here), 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God (in that person), bringing every thought(IN persons MIND) into captivity to the obedience of Christ

PRAISE and THANK Jesus for what He is doing in that person’s life (though we might not yet see it)
But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good. (NKJV)
Persevere in prayer and see the power of the Lord in lives of your loved ones.

Don’t Store Up Treasure on Earth

I am writing this one so we can ponder along together. I was thinking about the stock market crash not too many months back when most of those invested in it lost 1/3 to ½ or more of their investments. I am thinking from a Biblical perspective about what we know.

Matthew 6:19-20 (New King James Version)
Lay Up Treasures in Heaven

19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

We have already read the final chapter and know there will be one world government and one monetary system which probably means that our US dollar will be worthless, especially since they are printing it so fast and there is no gold or anything valuable to back it up.

So, the interesting idea which popped into my head is why not take what amount we have and give to missions, God’s work, the spreading of the gospel now, while it is still worth something.
God provided manna in the wilderness. He provided food for Elijah at the Brook Cherith.

1 Kings 17:1-5 (New King James Version)

1 Kings 17

Elijah Proclaims a Drought
1 And Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the LORD God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except at my word.”2 Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying, 3 “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. 4 And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” 5 So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan.

So is it too much of a leap to trust Him to provide our needs while we take what we do have and entrust it to Him, partner with Him in spreading the Gospel to all nations?

Whew. That was a thought that brought a smile to my face, then a knot in my stomach and trembling to my hands.

My greatest gifting side kicked in, you know, the GREAT WHAT-IFer. I know, when I “what if” it shows my lack of faith, trust, yieldedness, peace, giving up “control”…. Like I said, it is probably my greatest “gift”. OK what I really mean is my greatest challenge.

Mick and I have many friends in ministry. We know who they are and what they are doing and how they are touching many. Our Youth With A Mission friends and the many internationals I am blessed to call friend from my over 9 years working at Every Home for Christ. We know people personally working with and sharing the Lord in practical ways with children all over the world, people in Muslim countries, children delivered from prostitution, adults who have no work and are taught how to grow food, raise animals or do a small business. The opportunities abound.

One of the greatest joys in my whole life was being able to pray over some inherited money and see where the Lord wanted it to go. To bless those who were “full time” working for Jesus in countries all over the world, including the US and pastors here. We have actually become a great mission field in our nation.
BUT who doesn’t save for retirement? Who thinks social security is, well, secure? Never mind that Mick and I totally trusted the Lord with finances while we did short term missionary work. I recall a time when I didn’t even have a quarter to make a reverse the charger phone call. Yet there was no lack. God provided abundantly in the most incredible and creative ways.

Lord, is this really You laying this on my heart? Could it be possible while our money still has value to spend it hilariously for Your kingdom business? Could we really turn loose and depend upon You?
So I take my wild and crazy idea to my dear, sweet husband who loves Jesus and has walked many of the same paths filled with provision and miracles that I have over the years.

“Jo, we already give enough” was his initial response.

Now mine is to pray and seek the Lord and if it is really Him and His will for us, He will speak to Mick’s heart. This has definitely happened in the past and it spares up both from the “dripping wife” routine. What, you don’t know about that one? It really is in there:

Proverbs 27:14-16 (New King James Version)

14 He who blesses his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning,
It will be counted a curse to him. 15 A continual dripping on a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike; 16 Whoever restrains her restrains the wind, and grasps oil with his right hand.

So while I am praying I thought I would toss this idea out to you. What do you think? Do you think God is able to take care all of our needs through His riches in glory? Do you think this might be a most incredible investment? Investment in the eternal rather than getting, accumulating and buying more “stuff” here on earth? Do you think it might be a way to reach out to those suffering and less fortunate and be the Lord Jesus’ Christ hands reached out and His arms extended?

What have I learned over the years about God’s provision? You simply cannot out give the Lord. Mick and I have proved this over and over. He is faithful and provides and blesses in so many ways.
We look at the recent loss in the market and it hasn’t all come back, has it? and jus think what could have been done if that had been KINGDOM invested before it was lost.

I know, some of you are going to think I am meddling once again. Actually I am think that is becoming my new gifting rather than “what-if-ing”. Not a bad trade off is it? GRIN

If you don’t know the Lord Jesus as your Savior you probably already think I an nuts by definition and that’s OK, we can, once again, agree to disagree.
So what do you all think?

Thoughts of Heaven, Thoughts of Him from July 21, 2011

Thoughts of Heaven, Thoughts of Him from July 21, 2011

Fresh manna
New mercy morning
Coolness greeting me
After sweltering heat
Yesterday

Great beginnings
Old things passed away
As far as east from west
Scarlet sin, like snow

Made free, recreated whole
No missing pieces
Or mourning loss
Recreated reformation by Jesus

Able to stand because of Him alone
Crucified for me, on Calvary’s tree
Pure blood applied
“Paid in full”.

Calm down, Quiet Yourself and Take Some Time Out

Mama elk bring out their babies near our house!

Calm down, Quiet Yourself and Take Some Time Out

Sometimes I can just see the Lord standing in front of me, waving His hands and doing all that He can to get my attention, to make me STOP and listen to Him. Do you ever experience this as you are doing double time from the washer to the dryer to the car and running errands, then playing chauffer and getting the whole family where they need to be, on time?  Yet Jesus is in front of you still.

You sense that He would love to give you peace but you are too busy running your list. Only you can take time. Only you can sit and spend time with Him. He will give you input that will make the rest of that list line up and get in order. He will help you figure out those things, little fires, that you do not really have to pay any attention to. He will help you free up those moments to become refreshed and renewed in His very presence as He imparts life to you. How do I know? Well, on occasion I STOP and listen and let Him be my chauffer, as it were.

Oh my daughter, I long to speak to your heart. Come, be apart from the world’s rush with Me. I can teach you peace only as you accept instruction. I delight to fellowship intimately with you. I AM always here. Draw rivers of peaceful refreshment from my limitless well, it is My gift to you. Quench your thirst. Be refreshed/sparkling inside and out., as a teacher on a hot, dusty desert after being drenched/satiated with an artesian spring. Be pure in Me. Let Me flow out from you. Let My Spirit overwhelm you with pure love, Agape, lift your arms, your voice and being to the One and only who is worthy. I love you. I know your every concern and am willing to bear it for you. Therein lies the key to perfect peace in Me. You are protected by the fortress of My love, encircling you in complete and total embrace. Relax. I really am in control. Have no fear but lean on the great I AM, eternal creator, only God. I clothe you with my robe of righteousness and endeavor to make you whole. Yield. Allow Me. I Am gentleness, truth. My way is expedient and best. Respond to Me and resist Me not. Verify your growth in My Word. You are my Daughter. I am your Father. Rejoice in that surety. Rejoice

We are encouraged to become more like little children, childlike rather than childish. In Luke 18:17 the Bible admonishes us that if we cannot receive the Kingdom of God like a little child we will not enter in. Maybe there is some good application to be learned here. Kids always make time to play, relax and enjoy relationship with their friends, don’t they?

John 15:19 tells us a bit about why “the world” hates us. Does it hurt you to be hated? Not if you take a look at the Word a bit deeper. Jesus had chosen us out of the world and we do not belong to the world. OK, then it follows that “the world” wouldn’t be too fond of us. This is a good thing then, can we be thankful?

John 14:27 speaks of the peace that the Lord gives to us and reminds us that He doesn’t give us “as the world gives” (hatred, grief, wrong motives, a hassle for doing “good”) and He further instructs us to “not let our hearts be troubled, not to be afraid”. When we look at it through His “glasses” we can see that all is as it should be if we are rejected by the world, more rejoicing material here. This could even be a report card of sorts!

John is full of good promises. In John 7:38 we are told that if we believe in Jesus according to the scripture that streams of living water will flow out of us. I don’t know about you but especially in these days I delight when life flows out of me, life that can affect those around me if I allow it to.

In James 4:7 we are given a most incredible promise that if we submit ourselves to God and resist the devil that he (the devil) will flee from us. Could it be that the enemy hates to even be around us when we are in submission to the Lord and His will is being done in out “space”? Whatever the dynamics are here this works. Remember the first part of that verse, the “submit yourself to God part”. Many times that verse is quoted omitting that first part. I feel it is in the first part where the power resides. When we submit and are obedient to Him and His leading that’s when He makes Himself a giant on our behalf.

In Psalm 105:3 we are encouraged to give Glory in his holy name; and to let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice. This is the cherry on top and we can do this any time any minute of the day. I think it is time for me to do just that! Get into a peaceful place with His Word and allow Him to speak, once again, to this child.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, You alone have turned our mourning into gladness. Make us, mold us, renew us to be like You. Thank You for turning up the fire to get rid of the dross, thank you for Your incredible mercy in not giving us what we really deserve. Thank You that You rejoice over us with singing and love. Thank You that you want to spend time with us! AMEN.

About Getting Up Early For Devotions....

These thoughts came to me while I was having a little “pity party” about the house being cold and the hour being EARLY and wanting to snuggle deeper and stay in bed…

About Getting Up Early For Devotions....

I waken at 6:23 and
Think of the house being cold.
Fifty-eight degrees seems awful
Though I know early is Your GOLD.

I snuggle buried deep
In blankets piled high
It matters not that I have slippers, robe
I hardly even try

Then I think of those in chains
Who suffer much for You
No plush carpet or spare bedroom
But wet moldy floors and dungeon darkness too

Help me oh Lord to recollect
Times not so long ago
When I was imprisoned in my sin
And Jesus I didn’t know

Help me be get of bed
In early AM too
Because I cherish the time I’m free
To spend with my Friend so true.

Compassion

You should go on the website and look for a handicapped child that has been on the website the longest……
The  Lord had my attention and I began to argue, but in the past the handicapped children were always the first to get sponsors……
It was the week our local Christian station partnered with Compassion International, the worldwide ministry which paired children with sponsors and reached out in the name of Jesus to these kids.
OK, let’s see, here is that part of the website…. Oh, my, LOOK at that smile! There is a 9 year old girl from India with a cleft lip and speech problems who has been on the website more than 6 month waiting for someone to choose her.  Ah, Lord, she is the only one who has waited this long…..
YES…….
I don’t suppose it is coincidence that our other child can no longer be in this program and we just got that notice today?
Click.  I DID it. Soon we will get the whole packet on little Anna.
“Hi honey, do you have a minute?”
“Sure, what’s up?”
“We have a new Compassion little girl today and I will tell you all about her when you get home,”
“OK, I am always eager to her those stories.”
That seems like it was only yesterday.  And the years went by as this little gal became a young woman.  Her writing was totally exotic as she sent her letters in Tamil and then they were translated into English.  She excelled in school and was a singer in spite of her speech problems.  Each letter from her radiated Jesus back to us.
She prayed and we prayed.  She was the daughter we never had.  It wasn’t long before we decided this would be a super Christmas gift for the adult members of our family.  Not another polo shirt or book but a month’s support for little Anna.
“Hey, we can copy her letters and send them out to each family member at Christmas time every year!” I was so excited about this idea.
“Yes, and the drawings she sends up and her beautiful script in ….. what is it, Tamil?”
“Great idea.”
And so it went with little Anna.  She was able to get some medical help with this ministry, help with school work and learn more about Jesus.  We have been totally blessed to be a part of her life this way.
His arms reached out and His hands extended are what this is really all about. We can even write letters online now BUT she sure seems to like the stickers and post cards and bookmarks we can include when we send a note by “snail mail”.
“I am praying for you every day, and all your family. Thank you so much for the gift you sent for my birthday.  I got a bowl to hold water in the house and some beautiful material for a new dress to go with the sandals I was able to get too….and a large bag of rice……..”
“Honey, I think this is the best $32 we have even invested! Less than a dollar a day is making a difference for her whole family.  We won’t really know until we step into eternity how much impact this has.”
Each time we open a letter that has a new photo of our little Anna it totally lights up the kitchen.
Lord, we couldn’t be more blessed, thanks for nudging me that day on the computer. You are most incredible!
