One of THOSE days II

Got up early (5:45 AM) but we both overslept. Rushing around to get Mick breakfast and get him out the door – Mick lifted the wooden blinds in the kitchen – beautiful sunrise. Grabbing the camera I rush out barefooted in the 48 degree weather, hey, I am a mountain girl now so this is no big deal. When Colette visited one November we both went out to catch the sunrise barefooted and there was snow on the deck that time.

I get out not at the peak but almost. Mick got his breakfast and about 3-4 humming birds were swarming the feeders on the porch so I got the sunrise and the hummers, not bad.

Back in to wash sheets, get dishes loaded, feed kitties and clean up after them. Then I grab my walking stick and take off for my fast mile around the meadow. Coming back I see a large, black feather in the driveway – oops, bird feeders are empty and the bird bath is almost dried up so I take care of that.

It is a major cooking day – making a salmon veggies torte and a large breakfast casserole. As I put the drained salmon juice into kitty dishes and place them on the cat feeding mat on the floor I remind myself they are there – yep, my favorite stinky thing to trip over and splash, salmon juice. Surely today will b different as I have reminded myself, right?

Have ½ of all the kitchen countertops laid out with ingredients for the two dishes while I sautee onions and garlic.

RING – RING

I tear around the peninsula to grab the phone on the side where the note pad it – NO, there goes one dish of salmon juice all over the wood floors….

“Hi, Marijo, it is Linda at the post office – you got two packages today and one is really torn up and has nothing in it….”

She told me where it was from.

“Oh, that was my ceramic garlic keeper…”

“Marijo, no way should they have mailed a ceramic anything in a flat cardboard envelope… contact them and give them my phone number if you need verification…”

“ Thanks, Linda!”

Now to clean the stinky salmon juice up…

RING-RING

“Hello?”

“Jo, why do you sound like you are short of breath?”

This time it is my sweety wanting to know if I have library books to pick up… I stop to give him a brief run- down of why I am short of breath…

Back to cleaning the floor…

The kitties are curious but not enough so that they come and lick up the mess, some help they are…
Now we will see how long it takes the ceramic garlic keeper sales person to respond to my note about the whole event. I sure hope it is SOON!

Prayer: Oh, my Jesus, you make joy in my heart when I hear you speak my name! I love You. Help me to tune in and listen and hear Your whispered plans for today. I’ve read the book, chapter and verse and already know Your plans for tomorrow. I want to be ready – a warrior for Jesus!

My child, I am preparing my Bride, I love you so. Think not that my timing is slow. I shall pour out blessing upon you. My ways are perfect and you do delight therein. Wait but awhile and it shall become very clear to you what is in my heart. You shall and do hear. Fear not but rejoice. I love you and have a special place for you where I shall be also. More will become clear as you walk daily in my path of righteousness. Selah. You have been set free, child, no doubt, no guilt, no self recriminations but free in Jesus – rest in that release and be free.

The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends thebridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom's voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. (NIV)

Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. (NIV)

The Spirit and the bride say, "Come!" And let him who hears say, "Come!" Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life. (NIV)

He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he. (NIV)

Once more the humble will rejoice in the LORD; the needy willrejoice in the Holy One of Israel. (NIV)

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. (NIV)

But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

God’s Presence is Present With Us

Do you have those days when you wonder “where is God in all of this?” those times when things seem to be falling down around your ears? He really is there. Maybe you can’t sense His presence for one reason or another but His Word promises that He will never leave us nor forsake us. HE is SO faithful and we, we are “but dust”. Sometimes I think maybe I should do more spring cleaning of my spirit, know what I mean?

Daughter, some days what I would impart to you is not profound or pertinent to KNOWLEDGE, rather that I AM with you always.

In Colossians 1:27 the Bible says that Christ is in us (those who have asked Him to be their Lord and Savior) and that is the hope of glory. What a promise, I think it is also a glorious hope too!

Matthew 28:20 is Jesus speaking and teaching and promising he will be with us always, even to the end of the age.

The Lord doesn’t give us a life of ease and no troubles but he promises to walk through it all with us, right by our side. He is our strong champion. Sometimes when the going is too rough He will pick us up and hold us close to Him and carry us. These are the times of the proverbial “one set of footprints” that we have all experienced. Thank you, Lord, for those times when we are too battle weary to even hobble that you pick us up, hold us tightly to your chest and carry us onward.

Psalms 23:4 speaks of walking through the valley of the shadow of death and fearing no evil because God is there with the writer. What a promise for us even today!

Prayer: Dear God, to have you with us always, there is nothing more we could ask or desire and we praise You! We thank you for those times when our weakness is so weak for then your strength can be tested and proven to be perfect for us in that very moment. AMEN

Believe and Obey with Angelic Insight

“Mom, I am SO excited about this game, if we win, we get to go to State!”

“Yes, Hon, you have played with heart and soul this season, I am proud of you and the team.”

“Mom, there’s a stop sign coming up.”

“ Yes, I see it up there in its bright red color.”

“Mom, why aren’t you slowing down? MOMMMMM, there’s a semi coming the other way……”

Crash, crunch, tinkle, BAM – the sounds of metal scraping and shrieking against metal could be heard for a long way around. Then came the smoke and fire and finally sounds of sirens.

Two huge heavenly warriors were close by. Dressed in splendor, no earthly tailor made their garments.

“What are we doing here?”

“We are here to escort someone to meet her Savior.”

“What happened at that stop sign? Didn’t the mom see it in time?”

“Apparently she saw it, knew and believed it was a stop sign.”

“Why didn’t she stop at the two way stop then?”

“Well, it would be easy to explain in Hebrew or Greek where believe implies acting on that belief or obeying…. In English they seem to have something called “mental assent” or “head knowledge” and they say “yes, yes, I believe it is a stop sign…. Yes, yes, I know it means we are supposed to stop… then for some reason they decide it doesn’t really mean that or doesn’t apply to them or ….”

“Let me get this straight, the mom saw the sign and sailed right on through the intersection getting hit by that huge semi truck? And they are both gone?”

“I’m sorry, yes, and we are here to take that little ball player to meet her Lord Jesus.”

“Well, what about the mom? Are we taking her to meet the Lord too?”

“Nooo, apparently she “believed” in Him the way she did the stop sign. We are to leave her here for the other guys to escort.......”

“Ohhhh…..this is terrible. How could anyone turn down such an incredible, eternal FREE gift?”

“Maybe we can talk more about this later but right now let’s go hug that little ball player and take her into the most awesome inning of her life!”

Do we believe and act like we believe? Or do we just nod and give mental assent? Do we DO things because we love Him? Or does the Word of God go “in one eye and out the other” as we read?

James 2:19

You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. (NIV)

Strive to Rest?

Strive to Enter into HIS Rest

God created the world in six days and on the seventh day He rested. There are many thoughts on what this actually means but the fact remains that God, the very creator of the world rested. His example is something every believer should make it a point to follow. Life is full of things to keep us busy, probably too many things if truth were told. Maybe one thing which should be penciled into our Day timers or typed into our computer calendars each day is time out, simply to rest.

Hebrews 4:9-16 9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

Our “task” as believers is:
1.     Surrender to God
2.     Faith placed in God

Cease from our own works and “Lean not to your own understanding”, taking time to rest in our Lord.

Proverbs 3:4-6 4 And so find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man. 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (NKJV)

Cease from trying to change ourselves, allow HIM to change us. The battle is the Lord’s. We must surrender the reigns of our life. HE knows how it is to be done.
Do we trust Him? Will we obey Him? That is our “job” - to trust and obey.

Isaiah 50:10“ Who among you fears the LORD? Who obeys the voice of His Servant? Who walks in darkness And has no light? Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rely upon his God.” (NKJV)

Lord, let me be of a clean heart – reveal to me my hidden uncleanness. Let my heart be right with You, obedient, trusting and obeying my Lord Jesus.

He will help us to accomplish this resting in Him. All we need to is ask for His help and hold our arms in the air for our heavenly Daddy to lift us up. Let’s try this during this very week.

Be Still and Know Also (Words from the Lord Series)

My little daughter, the confusion you see is of the enemy but I am working through it for your good.

Whether you're frantic or at peace in me the outcome is the same.

So you can turn it loose to me. I have a plan for you birthed out of love.

Still yourself in Jesus and behold as it unfolds. Trust me.

Psalm 4:5
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. (NKJV)

Psalm 18:2
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. (NKJV)

Proverbs 3: 5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. (NKJV)

PRAYER: Dear Jesus, please help me to be at peace in You. Looks like You are telling me that frantic wastes so much time and energy and I do hear You, help me to remember when I am in the thick of it next time. AMEN

Trusting Devotional (Words from the Lord Series)

My daughter, I AM in control, I AM God of the mountains and God of the valleys.

Is My arm so short it cannot reach? Have I not said and shall I not perform?

I lay things on your heart for encouragement and direction, not to create fear or tension.

Know that El Shaddi is present and a very comforting presence. Know I AM opening and I shall close those doors behind, soon and very soon.

You've been tested. I AM is your escape. Rest against my breast and under my wings. Selah.

It is not Santa Claus but the God of heaven and earth at work on your behalf. Rest daughter, rest in Jesus.

[ Sin, Confession and Redemption ] Surely the arm of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. (NIV)

When I came, why was there no one? When I called, why was there no one to answer? Was my arm too short to ransom you? Do I lack the strength to rescue you? By a mere rebuke I dry up the sea, I turn rivers into a desert; their fish rot for lack of water and die of thirst. (NIV)

Prayer: Dear Jesus, we know from rescues over and over that your arm is not too short. We lean on those arms today and trust you to become huge in the face of our request and needs. AMEN

Are You Growing? Devotional (Words from the Lord Series)

My daughter, in my timing you shall know. Are you growing? Allow Me to stretch you – I AM renewing and restoring and reviving you. I AM yours and you are Mine. I am stretching and do have a purpose and a plan. FEAR NOT but seek Me – you shall know soon and very soon. Meantime, REST in Me. I have given you My burden for My purpose. Shine Jesus. Grow as I stretch you – share the truth in love – stand your ground – stay steady – stand firm. Realize Me in you. Stay free, whom the Son has set free is free in deed. Selah.

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.(NIV)

but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (NIV)

he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.(NIV)

Restore us, O LORD God Almighty; make your face shine upon us, that we may be saved.(NIV)

Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? (NIV)

Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name. (NIV)

Prayer: Dear God, Most High, please refresh, restore and revive us that we may more fervently praise Your name and Your works and Your mercy and goodness! Grow us up in these areas too, we pray.AMEN

Brass Ceiling Moments

All Too Quiet Times Devotional (Words from the Lord Series)

Daughter, grapple not with the apparent silence but lift up your faith to me.

Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daughter," he said, "your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that moment. (NIV)

He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." (NIV)

When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Son, your sins are forgiven." (NIV)

He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering." (NIV)

Prayer: Oh, Lord God, please help us to believe. Not some wispy faith in faith but faith in you, Lord Jesus, who spoke the worlds into existence and still moves on our behalf today! AMEN

Prayer: Dear God, Most High, please refresh, restore and revive us that we may more fervently praise Your name and Your works and Your mercy and goodness! Grow us up in these areas too, we pray.AMEN

Absorb Yourself in My Word Devotional (Words from the Lord Series)

Child, draw nigh unto Me as you are – absorb yourself in My word – study and I shall bless. My discipline really shall be an exciting delight to you. Remember your childhood – the security of knowing you’re cared for within parameters of limits – security, yes, even joy. So rejoice my child as I move you into obedience. Set your will to follow Me. And I will shore you up and reinforce that decision with my strength and encouragement. We are getting ready and I love you!

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. (NIV)

Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security. (NIV)

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. (NIV)

But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. (NIV)

O LORD, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in time of distress, to you the nations will come from the ends of the earth….(NIV)

Prayer: Dear Lord of all, thank you for giving us your discipline and parameters and making us sense the security in You and obedience to Your Word. Thank you that we can rejoice in your leading and guiding us daily. Please help us to stay yielded and going and growing in you, dear Jesus and your Word. AMEN
