Muddy tears cried with no release

Because I am in control

Those I love weighed by my grief

Because I am in control

Atheist’s heart now stubborn stone

Because I am in control

Rifled with fears of the unknown

Because I am in control

Praying to god IF he is there

Because i am in control?

Do you exist, how and where?

Help me, save me if you can hear

I’ve made a mess, please draw near

Because …….

Incredible lift beyond belief

Because I Am’s in control

Boulder weighted backpack gone, relief

Because I Am’s in control

Made me clean, pure, fresh, new and whole

Because I Am’s in control

Set me free and renewed my soul

Because I Am’s in control

Chosen Praise to the Chosen ONE!

Chosen Praise to the Chosen One

Father hear my praises

The spoken but also the unspoken

Help my very heart

To pour forth and dance

At the mention of that name

Oh that my eyes might see

And my fingers touch

My spirit behold

My Lord, resplendent,

Only God and King,

Unplug my channels of praise

That my love

Might flow free

And be a wondrously fragrant

Offering unto our soon returning

Philippians 2:9
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name. (NIV)

Psalm 8:1
O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. (NIV)

Psalm 138:2
I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.(NIV)

Psalm 148:13
Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens. (NIV)

Jeremiah 31:13
Then maidens will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow. (NIV)

2 Samuel 6:14
David, wearing a linen ephod, danced before the LORD with all his might. (NIV)

Ephesians 5:2
and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. (NIV)

Luke 22:18
For I tell you I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes (NIV)

Revelation 19:11
[The Rider on the White Horse ] I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. (NIV)

He gave His life for us, he who was sinless and the only one who could actually take our penalty upon Himself, Jesus part of the triune Godhead, God the son in flesh appearing. Just to think that He intercedes for me and cares about what I do, where I go and who I interact with is mind boggling. If it breaks my (your) heart, it breaks His heart. If you cry, He cries with you and is right there to walk “through the valley of the shadow of death” with me (you). Could there ever be a closer friend? Oh, what a privilege to call Him friend, Lord and Savior.

Lord, I asked You
To wipe away my tears
You showed me dawn
As exquisite day
Your glorious Son
Rising again
Lighting magenta skies
Showing Your way to men
And I cried

I cried because You
Touched in me
My inner being
With Your beauty

I saw lost men drowning
In despair
You brought to mind the cross
With Jesus lifted there
You showed me how He died for us
And was buried deep away
Yet rose victorious over  grave
Alive on that 3rd day
And I cried

I cried with joy
Able to cling and cope
That vision of You
Gave me more than hope
You reached out
My tears to touch
And I cried the more
Because you loved so much

And every time
The teardrops fell
I saw healing release
As Jesus'  touch made well
As I started to turn loose
My worries began to go
I prayed
"Lord, don't wipe away my tears,
Just direct their flow."

Listening Intently to Your Jesus

Child, you do hear Me. Fear not just because I am not speaking forth completed roadmaps at this time. Know that My timing is perfect and I know the plan, you and I are right on schedule. REST.

We are all blessed to have ears and most of us can hear voices around us. Even for those who are deaf, hearing God is totally possible. We don’t need a hearing aid to listen to that still, small voice within our hearts. Yes, we need to focus. Getting into the Word of God helps as sometimes a sentence or two will seem to jump off the page and be just written for you, right now, today. The Lord our God wants to have an intimate, daily relationship with us. He will listen to our cares, concerns, joys and questions better than anyone else. He alone can calm our anxiousness and rest out fears. Why should it surprise us that God can do the creative and unusual in communication to His kids?

Numbers 24:4 The utterance of him who hears the words of God, who sees visions of the Almighty, who falls down, with eyes wide open…..

Look up the following verses to see what the Lord is saying to you this afternoon.

Psalm 95:6-8

Psalm 27:3

Isaiah 41:10

Psalm 20:4

Proverbs 16:9

My Commitment:

Prayer: Dear Jesus, I am trying to REST in your arms as we await the blood test results on the kitten we’d like to adopt. I realize it could be a blood test on one of us with much more dire consequences. Thank You that I don’t need a roadmap or a GPS because I have you, my Jesus, my Lord! Thank you that You truly go before us and prepare the way. Help that to seep into the core of me! In the name of the Lord Jesus, AMEN.

Forgiven and Set Free

Let us never, ever forget that we are forgiven and if that forgiveness is working in our lives it should and can work on the horizontal level too, with all our relationships with family and friends, not just between us and the Lord! I think that peace that passes all understanding is directly linked to our forgiveness switch!

Oh Lord, help me to hear Your voice
And to KNOW,
When I ache and doubt and wonder
Let me yield up my praise to You.
Whenever it is quiet
I think I've done something wrong
And been left behind
I claim the promise of Yours
"I will never leave you,
Nor forsake you.
Lo, I am with you ALWAYS,
Even until the end of the ages."
Lord, help my faith to grow
And my trust in You.

Jesus in My Life for Transformation

My pregnant “out to there” sister had come for a visit about three weeks prior with her two little girls. She had changed; there was no getting around it. She was offering to help me instead of telling me what to do. When the girls had bad attitudes – the ones toddlers get – she whispered something in their ear, (instead of yelling) and things changed. She had become “born again” and I was fighting everything about it. Still, I couldn’t
get over the positive differences in her life. We started talking one night at 9 pm – the next time we looked at the clock it was 5:00 am!

I would ask questions, and then get mean and nasty; “yah, I suppose you’re going to tell me the devil did that?” Would come out with as much sarcasm as I could muster.

There was a war going on inside me. One voice was saying, “Tell her you love her, and tell her how much she means to you.” Another would say, “Put on a stony mask; don’t let her see how anything is getting to you…”

When I would ask questions she couldn’t answer, her response would be “I don’t know Jo, but I will find out for you.”

She never used to follow up on anything, so I was surprised to find a letter she started to her husband the next morning. “Ken can you ask pastor a couple of questions from Jo?” I never should have talked with her about Jesus, she is much worse than she was before we talked….” I stuffed the letter back under the pillow.

Three weeks passed. I ran to the Christian bookstore to buy the book she suggested, “Late Great Planet Earth” by Hal Lindsay. I was a professing atheist and a non-professing alcoholic; a real mess, and making life miserable for anyone who cared for me. The wheels in my brain began turning: what if any of this is true and I am left on the outside looking in? I am making a mess of my life.

After a walk in the park with my then husband, I was taking a bath before going in to work the night shift at the local hospital. I worked with a born again nurse’s aide. We had long ago agreed to disagree. I would give her smart replies if she began to talk about her Jesus - but I was miserable, crying at the park had not brought any relief. It was as if I was crying muddy tears with no release.

I was a nasty drunk hurting those I professed to care about – life was a mess. In that bathtub, I was crying out to a god I didn’t think existed.

If you are there please help me, I have made a mess of my life, please do something – take over for me Jesus. Tap, tap, tap “Jo, are you alright? You’ve been in there an hour
and a half…”

It was then I realized I was sitting in a tub of stone cold water. At this same time, I sensed a large weight being lifted off my shoulders and a most incredible peace within me, a peace I had never experienced. Over the next few weeks, I began to get to know the Creator of the Universe, this Jesus I had so long denied – what an adventure He and I had making up for lost time! Within three weeks, He completely delivered me from alcohol. Previously I hadn’t even been able to go longer than a day and a half without doing some serious drinking. The Lord pulled me feet first out of that bottle; I haven’t had a drink in almost thirty-seven years.

So many things have happened since then. I found myself single, ending up getting short-term missionary training with Youth with a Mission (YMAM). My experience as an RN helped, we traveled through Mexico, and then on to work in a children’s home in Guatemala.

After we returned, the Lord did many wonderful things to get me back for the second part of YMAM schooling continuing my healing after being divorced. I met some wonderful Christians there in East Texas. It wasn’t too long before the Lord was putting my broken life back together. I was more whole than I’d been before being “broken.” His presence and healing were indescribable.

I knew then what I wanted, and that was to go on a mobile team helping local churches and their pastors. Then I was encouraged to pray. It seemed like our Lord had different ideas. As it turned out, there was a fellow named Mick, whom I had been avoiding for  almost a year. He was a bearded red head; my ex was  bearded red head. I came to find out our Lord has a real sense of humor. Mick and I have now been married for almost 27 years. They haven’t all been easy but they’ve been good. The first year we were married I almost died from Toxic Shock.

Since then we have both had cancer, we have had times whenwe were both unemployed at the same time, and thankfully, times when we both worked. Through it all, we never missed paying a bill; God always provided our food and a roof over our heads. We’ve been blessed in unbelievable ways, and are always amazed at God’s creative and miraculous provision in our lives.

I worked as an RN for 24 years, and then was able to work for two different ministries after we moved to Colorado in 1993. As of this writing I am about to begin radiation for breast cancer. The good news is that our Lord has never been closer to us. They caught the cancer very early so it’s not in my lymph nodes or blood stream.

I’m blessed to be able to share these devotional studies with you. Some of them began 34 years ago. God knows what a “wiggler” I am. Shortly after I became “a new creature in Jesus,” He impressed me to write, read aloud, and engage as many of my senses (and fingers) as possible. I would write what I was thinking to Him along with poems of praise. Soon I was writing what He was laying on my heart. Each “word” in here was first to me, and then for others.

Eventually God impressed upon me to look up scriptures which went along with the “words,” and then to write a prayer expressing my heart at the end. I’ve felt for years this would someday come together in a devotional. Our dear Lord worked that out too, as we now have Morning Whispers from the Heart of God. I pray He will speak to you, making His Word come alive!
In Jesus,

Longing for God? You Can Choose to Meet With Him Today!

The line will not be busy, you don’t have to schedule an appointment weeks ahead of time. The Lord Jesus Christ is as close to you as a prayer. Our pastor once asked if you had picnics with God and then told us how you can actually sit and have a 5 course banquet, indicating that the choice was ours.

“But I am TOO busy to sit and pray….” On those days it would seem that we are actually too busy NOT to sit and pray. Think of all those things you have to do today. Think of those lists, appointments and time constraints. Then think of who “knit you together in your mother’s womb” and knows you best. Maybe He had some valuable input on today and His plan for your 24 hours? Think how much smoother it might go if you actually talked with your “consultant”.

I know those days I purpose to sit at His feet early and listen things go so very much better. He is always glad to meet, even if it has been a while since I came to Him.

My child, it had been so long since you have come away to really rest in my arms and be renewed.

Is there a need? Do you see/sense an emptiness?

Do you hear me not though I am ever present? Listen.

Be still and know that I am God.

Be still and know the great I AM.

Come away my beloved and selah. (Pause and think calmly)

Prayer: Dearest Jesus, please forgive me for those days that I get so caught up in the cares of this world that I neglect to come to You. There is no excuse and yet sometimes I find this happening way too often even though I always delight to be in your presence. Help me to learn well enough to make a change in my “habits” – You are the very best “habit” anyone can have – coming into your presence is an honor and privilege. Please help me never to forget.

Have You Ever Broken God’s Heart? What is Sin?

What comes to mind when you hear the word “sin”? I found some notes in my Bible and am sorry to say that I don’t know who the speaker was. Those notes were so good it prompted me to study and write this article.

When I am writing or speaking I most often use the phrase “breaking God’s heart” for things that are sin. Why? Because I think it gives an apt word picture of what our not-so-good choices do to God. He loves us so much that some of those choices we make do, indeed, break His heart.
Webster’s says sin is “to violate the divine law by actual transgression or neglect, An offence in general; misdemeanor, to violate human rights, law or propriety; to transgress. To do or commit wrongly.”

Strong’s Concordance has the familiar “miss the mark” and “trespass” for the word used in Romans 3:23

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. There are definitely other definitions of sin, sinner, sinned etc. found there also.

Have you ever been around a person who is all wrapped up in him or herself? Selfish SELF rises to the top in capital letters. Everything revolves around them. They are scheming and angling to make that so. Contrast that with someone who is all wrapped up in God, their Father, who has special plans for their life and time here on earth. Which one is more encouraging to be around? Which one gives you a glimpse of Jesus? Which one do you enjoy spending time with?

The essence of sin is building life around or all about one’s SELF. Sin draws us away from God and into rebellion then unbelief. Unbelief basically makes God a liar in the eyes of the unbeliever. If that person doesn’t believe Him then His promises aren’t true.  I wonder if the person filled with unbelief ever considers that maybe they haven’t grasped truth and reality, that maybe they are incorrect in their conclusions?

Sin could also be exemplified by an inner feeling of “wrong”. Our conscience, our heart and the Holy Spirit all do a good job, even when we are very small, of letting us know when we have crossed over that line. Yes, a person can choose to harden their heart and that seems to be hand in hand with rebellion. The choice is ours.

while it is said:“ Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”

Sin is simply putting something else before God.

Many times it has been explained as missing the target or missing the mark. Those who shoot rifles, pistols, arrows or even sling shots can relate to this good word picture.

Our sin against God leads to alienation and separation from God, not because He leaves us but because our actions and choices as a sinner made it so.

God is love, perfection and holiness. Why would we chose to be distanced from Him? He is perfect love who came down to die on that horrible cross for you and for me. He was perfect and holy enough to be able to offer Himself in that way giving us His righteousness. All we need to do is ask.

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

That is great news, I frankly can’t think of any better news to share today. If you are separated from God because of your choices why not take care of it right now.

Payday is coming and you have a choice: Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I implore you today to choose life. The liberator has come and he wants to set the captive FREE. How do I know? Because He has truly set this captive free!!

During Storms

This has been a year of storms, yet some of the country (like where we live) has been in the middle of a long drought. It did rain on Mick’s and my wedding anniversary this year in July. We have been blessed with enough rain since then so that the crunchy grass actually turned green and, oh, those wild flowers!

Do we mind the thunder, lightening and occasional power outages, nope, not so long as they bring life to this mountain meadow. There are definitely storms in our life in Jesus. They too, bring life if we allow them to do their work. Remaining yielded is the challenge. Are we ready to accept that one or do we stand on our “hind legs” like a cornered kitten with all claws bared striking out at anything in front of us?

If we listen carefully we can hear our Lord speaking to our hearts:

You hear the gentle rain. My tears wash and cleanse and nourish the grass, flowers and trees.  Just as the blood of my Son purifies all who accept it as shed on their behalf. Through your walk with me there will be some of your tears shed to help you grow and become more fruitful as Jesus is magnified and your own willfulness is offered up as a sacrifice of praise to the Lamb who is worthy.  Let me wash and purify you/make you spotless. Rejoice even in my rain times even when you think you can’t see my Son – perhaps He is accomplishing His great work in you even more on those rainy, rainy days.  Praise Him. Praise Him.

His promise to end the storm and not make it a devastation one is found in Genesis:

The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”

Prayer: Lord Jesus, we thank you so much that even those storms in our lives turn to a blessing. We can’t have growth without some lightening and thunder. We only have crunchy grass under foot until we allow you to work your ways to help us grow and change. Sometimes we get stuck and need that storm to help u go forward, unstuck and progressing in you. We want to be more like Jesus. How can that happen if we don’t walk in His footsteps which include paths of difficulty at times. Thank you in the midst of those paths, thank you that you are walking them with us! AMEN
