Hang in There

We have all seen that photo of the kitten hanging from the tree limb, barely, by its claws. The caption is something like “hang in there!”
It is a graphic picture of some of the days we experience. Hanging on with our very fingernails, but hanging on.
During those times the Lord very gently whispers to my heart His encouragement:
Daughter, Daughter, there are times which are hard for you but they are not impossible with Me.

I have heard you. I see your unrest and am not far off.

My answer fits the question. Have patience and hold on.
His answer fits, I know that is true over the years as I have walked with Him. Sometimes His answer is direct and to the point, not always yes or no but with amplification. Sometimes we hear that oft dreaded “wait”, but at least we know that more is coming on the subject.
At times it seems like I have been in His college for decades and the one course I keep retaking is Patience 101. Can you relate to this? Our Lord is not the God of the instant, although sometimes we grab onto our seatbelts and say “whoa, I am not ready yet….” More often than not, we find ourselves on “freeze frame” waiting for His timing and green light. Why would our loving Father send us anywhere when we are not dressed for battle, not do we have the implements with which to fight. Only He knows what we need and the most perfect timing for the skirmish. Only He knows if all the players are ready. It might not be simply you involved or that He is waiting for.
In Deuteronomy 10:20 we are admonished to fear the Lord our God and serve him. Hold fast to Him and take your oaths in his name.
I like the part about holding fast to Him. We see from that sentence that He is definitely approachable and allowing us to get close enough to cling to Him.
Another scripture about holding on to the Lord is found in Deuteronomy 11:22:
Deuteronomy 11:22
If you carefully observe all these commands I am giving you to follow—to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways and to hold fast to him….(NIV)
In Mark 10:27 Jesus is speaking that with man this is impossible, but not with God, all things are possible with God.
Does that give you incredible hope? Jesus didn’t say some things are possible with God, part of the issues of your life can be solved by God, no, he said ALL things are possible. Not by our huffing and puffing and “might” but by His Holy Spirit! Grab a hold of that promise and keep it close to your heart.
We are given more hope in Luke 1:37 which states nothing is impossible with God.
Looks like that verse in Mark was no accident and we can really grasp that close to us. Keep it in our pockets, so to speak, for we will need to remember it over and over I am sure.
Prayer: The old chorus comes to mind “nothing is impossible with You” – let this resonate in our hearts with each struggle we have and let us not be afraid to bring our needs to Your feet as nothing is too small for You and You give us ear for sure. AMEN
Fast Forward
Father God,
The pages of my life
Which used to flip daily
Are now flipping a week,
Month at a time.
Sometimes it seems
I fail to focus
With Your vision
On Your goals
So miserably.
Please help me?
I know you can and will!

Believe and Obey with Angelic Insight

“Mom, I am SO excited about this game, if we win, we get to go to State!”

“Yes, Hon, you have played with heart and soul this season, I am proud of you and the team.”

“Mom, there’s a stop sign coming up.”

“ Yes, I see it up there in its bright red color.”

“Mom, why aren’t you slowing down? MOMMMMM, there’s a semi coming the other way……”

Crash, crunch, tinkle, BAM – the sounds of metal scraping and shrieking against metal could be heard for a long way around. Then came the smoke and fire and finally sounds of sirens.

Two huge heavenly warriors were close by. Dressed in splendor, no earthly tailor made their garments.

“What are we doing here?”

“We are here to escort someone to meet her Savior.”

“What happened at that stop sign? Didn’t the mom see it in time?”

“Apparently she saw it, knew and believed it was a stop sign.”

“Why didn’t she stop at the two way stop then?”

“Well, it would be easy to explain in Hebrew or Greek where believe implies acting on that belief or obeying…. In English they seem to have something called “mental assent” or “head knowledge” and they say “yes, yes, I believe it is a stop sign…. Yes, yes, I know it means we are supposed to stop… then for some reason they decide it doesn’t really mean that or doesn’t apply to them or ….”

“Let me get this straight, the mom saw the sign and sailed right on through the intersection getting hit by that huge semi truck? And they are both gone?”

“I’m sorry, yes, and we are here to take that little ball player to meet her Lord Jesus.”

“Well, what about the mom? Are we taking her to meet the Lord too?”

“Nooo, apparently she “believed” in Him the way she did the stop sign. We are to leave her here for the other guys to escort.......”

“Ohhhh…..this is terrible. How could anyone turn down such an incredible, eternal FREE gift?”

“Maybe we can talk more about this later but right now let’s go hug that little ball player and take her into the most awesome inning of her life!”

Do we believe and act like we believe? Or do we just nod and give mental assent? Do we DO things because we love Him? Or does the Word of God go “in one eye and out the other” as we read?

James 2:19

You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror. (NIV)

Rooted Trees

Rooted Trees
You’re excited by the wind it is almost like you see my Spirit move.

What makes the trees so beautiful? They move and sway in worship and praise they are yielded so my Spirit can give them even greater beauty than when standing still. Learn from that tree. It goes nowhere but stands for me where it is planted, roots going deeper and deeper.

Be yielded like that tree and I'll make of you a song of great beauty in Jesus Christ my Son.
We read about the most wonderful discourse between our Lord Jesus and Nicodemas regarding being born again. Interestingly enough it also talks about the wind and the Spirit. Can you picture the trees clapping their hands? They, too, praise our wonderful Lord.
Jeremiah 17:8
For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
Please make a few notes about what the Holy spirit is saying to you through the following verses this morning.
John 3:7-9

Isaiah 55:12

My commitment:

Dear Lord, please help us to learn from the trees and the wind. Help us to yield unto you and your Holy Spirit moving in our lives daily. Let our roots grow ever deeper in You. AMEN

Yet Again

Thoughts and feelings
Build up and spill out
In the silent language of tears
Are felt, then understood
Rather than heard by the other

Surely spoken language
Must have failed
For nothing can express
The emotion or evoke the empathy
Like the silent language of tears

Spoken not, but cried by both
Wetting lashed, cheeks and memories
Memories of the countless
Previous nameless times
We told each other goodbye

Almost Crashing

Lord God, You saved me from a car wreck
As I was turning and that kid was speeding
I stepped on the gas and my hand
Found itself honking the horn

Then he stopped and I left, just in time.
My hands are always at "10 and 2"
How did I hit the horn?
I wasn't trying and remember my surprise
When it sounded. THANK YOU, JESUS!

Thinking Realigned

I AM a God of peace, not punishment as you first think. My thoughts are for your good, no "baseball bats".

Come unto Me all you who are weary and I will give you rest. Rest your five track mind.

One focus. JESUS. Rest in My love, under My wings.

There are times and seasons.

Praise Me while I release you.

Drought in Your Heart

Let not there be drought in your heart as I have given you refreshment even in your ears. Give the fears of your years to the ONE who is more than able to carry you through. I’ll take your fears, trembling – turning that occasion into a trusting time as you learn more of Me, your Savior and Lord. Allow Me?
Do you have those times when there is a dryness in your spirit, a parched and thirsty time that can only be described as a true drought? Is it a time of tears or sorrow? I have those times. It is then, if I am thinking quickly enough in the moment, I remember Who promised that our of our hearts could flow “rivers of living water”.  How can that be possible when our very inner parts are DRY? Because we are His temple and He dwells therein. He is that source, it definitely is not from within anything that we could call “ourselves”.
He might be allowing this time so we can learn more about Him (Jesus) our ways and means provider, Jesus who is perfect and strong especially in our times of weakness. Who would think that we could embrace times of dryness and tears? Through our Lord Jesus Christ even this can be turned to a time of blooming, a time of growth.
In John 7:38 we are told that the one who believes in Jesus will have rivers of living water flowing from his/her heart.
During these times we can learn the deep meaning of 2 Corinthians 12:19 where Jesus says that His grace is sufficient for us and that His strength is made perfect in weakness. Then Paul (writing this letter) says therefore he will boast in his infirmities that the power of Christ may rest upon him (Paul).
Paul could see that we are weak. He could see that Jesus recognized this and made a provision for us in these times. That provision is Jesus Himself. I can tell you from experience during my many weak times there can be no better provision than Jesus Himself.
Once again we are called upon to let go, to give the control of our lives to Him who made us and knows us best.
The Bible speaks of how God knew Jeremiah BEFORE he was in his mother’s womb in Jeremiah 1:5 saying Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” I don’t want to be presumptuous here but if he knew Jeremiah I suspect that He also knew you and me. We were no surprise to God but were and are still oh, so very precious to Him.
In Psalm 139:13-14 David speaks of God saying it so well “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works and that my soul knows very well.”
Please take heart, though you could have been a “surprise” to your parents you were no surprise to God. He thought you up, each little part of your “self” that makes you, you before you were conceived. He planned you. He might not have planned the circumstances of your conception but he definitely planned you. You are special, unique and cherished by the very God of creation.
Tonight I would have you ask Your heavenly Father to hold you close and heal any issues you might have about your conception, being a “surprise” or not planned. Ask Him to show you that you were no surprise to Him and you were planned, totally and completely and very, very loved.
Look up the scriptures mentioned above and read them once again very slowly and allow our Father to really make them personal for you.
My Commitment:
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for times of drought in our spirits so that we can come to know you even better. We can come to realize more that when we just can’t rise to the occasion maybe it is because we are supposed to let go and allow You to be huge on our behalf. Correct our sometimes puny thinking and help us to truly “let go and Let God!” Thank you even for those times of tears, we give them all to You! In Jesus’ most loving name, AMEN.

I have gotten wonderful news today - my breast surgeon is "not at all concerned" about the lump I found - says it is just a cyst. She and I both looked at it on the ultrasound in her office. I didn't have to have a mammogram or make an appointment for a biopsy.

Afterwards I needed to wait for Mick to get back to that part of Colorado Springs - there was a black lady who I had seen coming in waiting at the door on a bench - I sat with her and couldn't stop talking about my Jesus - the head of my medical team! Turns out she has uterine cancer and was going through much in the way of treatment and she loves the Lord too - I got to pray with her!

Then later in the day, the wife of one of Mick's clients came to knock on the truck window - I started sharing with her about my beautiful Lord - SHE was a believer and she then led us in prayer - today was like one glory and rejoicing day from start to finish - of course Mick was thrilled but saying "I KNEW it was "nothing".  thank you so very much for your prayers... This morning in my quiet time I got encouraging Rhema verse after verse - and some of those people I met today shared those same verses with me not even knowing!

Regarding new lump in breast....

We drove and Mick hiked and I was in the truck reading - felt the Lord laid this on my heart....

"You are my daughter in whom I am well pleased. You are in My hands. I AM the head of your medical team. I shall deliver you from the jaws of the enemy and you shall be whole."

Last time I had breast cancer I felt He said "this is not unto death, not even death of a breast..."

He was reminding me of that yesterday - PRAISING HIM!!!  Appointment Monday at 9 AM. THANKS for praying!!!

Sending hugs,

That They Should Believe the Lie

There seems to be an incredible increase is evil and the acceptance of that evil as “normal”. Think back 10 or 20 years ago. People then, not even those professing to be Christians, would have been appalled at most everything which is now on TV or in the movies. Then there is the revision of history, current political trends and things being made into law.
I am sure we all have friends and family who do not know Jesus as Truth and are making terrible choices and paying the consequences of those choices. Also, those who call or called themselves Christians who seem to be, well, falling away, yes, the Bible speaks of a great falling away in the end times.

2 Thessalonians 2:2-4 (New King James Version)

2 not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. 3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, 4 who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
Perhaps we have been called for such a time as this. If we have been sort of strolling along in our “new creature in Christ” experience perhaps it is time to take stock, pray and that without ceasing and start to w-a-l-k and run with purposefulness. He is coming back. We say “maranatha” but do we really mean it? Come quickly Lord Jesus. One of these days, soon, He is going to answer that cry.
Do you notice many, many more seem to be believing a lie rather than the truth? Have you wondered about that? With some who used to have a “whatever” attitude towards the Bible and things of God, especially the Lord Jesus Christ they new seem more adamant and set totally against reasoning. The following scripture seems difficult but definitely has answers.
2 Thessalonians 2:8-12 (New King James Version)
8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. 9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, 10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, 12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
I have emboldened the latter part to use it to pose a question. Is this possibly what we are seeing? Are we at this milestone in the scripture and the timetable?
I don’t have the answer to that but it surely seems like more of a possibility as each day goes by.
If you are reading this and it is making sense to you, talking to you do not wait a minute longer. Today is the day for salvation. You do not have to be among those labeled “that they should believe the lie”. You still have a choice. Choose you this day whom you shall serve.
There is still time to call out to Jesus and ask forgiveness. Being set free in Him is something to be experienced rather than described. He can liberate the captive from any and all sin and give forgiveness in a most incredible way.

Romans 10:8-10 (New King James Version)

8 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart”(that is, the word of faith which we preach): 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
I know all of this I am mentioning because over 35 years ago He totally set this captive free. I am a work in progress, He is not through with me yet!

TODAY - God's Safety in the STORM.... Tornado!!!

From a different storm 6 miles from our place a couple years back compliments of Mick's photography....
Usually eat lunch with girls after service - just felt impressed today to get home NOW. And the Lord indicated I was not to stop at Venture Foods either... Leaving Divide I thought there was an accident because tons of vehicles were pulled over - and there on the right was a tornado and they were all taking photos... duh....
I prayed and got on Twin Rocks to high tail it home... it was right there beside me - the air raid sirene noise came on the radio and they said there was a tornado in Lake George and seek immediate shelter... I sped down Twin Rocks Road to teller 12 and it looked like it was just THERE at the Fossil beds... I turned left (still speeding and praying) and some people were driving TOWRADS it....
I called Joe, Donna and another neighbor to let them know they could come to our crawl space (it is 5 feet tall and more civilized than some)
Got home ready to grab kitties - Park county had left messages on our machine and computer but not the cell phones,....
Mick is out hiking in this... left him messages...
They touched down on Teller 11 (the route home by the Four Mile Church) and in Lake George - yes, apparently there were THREE funnel clouds in our immediate area - the big one was headed to Florissant, Divide and WP they said. There is another storm system coming through in 2 hours (3:45)
Thanking God for being safe - praying for all - including Annie and Cricket and others coming this way... and you guys!
Too much excitement...
NO I did not do photos....
Mick is safe and found out THREE tornadoes touched down near our home. Praising Him we are ok... some friend's RV park and camping grounds near Lake George was badly hit but no people or animals were hurt!

Promise Regarding Promises Devotional (Words from the Lord Series)

Lift up my Son. Sing to Him your new song. Be faithful to my Word and the promises are yours.

Psalm 33:3
Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy. (NIV)
Psalm 40:3
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD. (NIV)
John 8:28
So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am the one I claim to be and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. (NIV)
John 12:32
But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." (NIV)
2 Corinthians 1:20
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are "Yes" in Christ. And so through him the "Amen" is spoken by us to the glory of God. (NIV)
2 Corinthians 7:1
Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God. (NIV)
Prayer: Oh, dear Jesus, help us to grasp what You have promised and know that You are ever so true to Your Word.  AMEN

Holding Onto the Hand of the Lord

My favorite hiking photo (the truck is way down at the bottom...)
Mick and I hike much. We don’t hike on paths or trails but up mountains, over foothills and across rocky landscapes. I am not sure how we did it and remained standing up before we began using hiking sticks. Now we have a tripod base and stumble or fall much less often. We have averted some bruises and cuts in doing so.
We also choose to hold tightly to our heavenly Father’s strong and capable hand in walking through our lives together. This has not always been so as there were times before Jesus when we were bruised, cut and fallen, this is an understatement.
We all have that offer from our heavenly Father, He is reaching out with His hand to grasp ours. He offers to walk with us through it all holding tightly to us because He really does care. What we do with His offer is our choice. If we listen really closely even today we can hear His voice speaking to us:
My child, you see the hills above you look not at your feet but up, to my glory
Let not your feelings tip and sway you so much. Your hand is in Mine. I am leading forth. Your feelings are like the weather, be not so affected by the climate around you as by who is your God.
If we are hand in hand what matters rain or snow or shine. Jesus, Jesus is the lifter of your soul.
In Luke 21:28 the Bible speaks of redemption saying “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near." (NKJV
John 10:27 speaks of Jesus’ sheep hearing His voice and how He knows them and how they follow him.
Our God is not someone impersonal who doesn’t have time or cannot be bothered. He numbers the very hairs on our heads. He is interested and concerned and wants to “be there for  us”.  All we need to do is ask.
Psalm 121:1 speaks of looking up to the hills and think about where our help comes from.
I am sure we can all think of instances when our loved ones and close friends have let us down. We have let others down too. It is a comfort to know that our Lord will never let us down. He might have different answers to our prayers than what we thought, He might say no or wait but it is in our best interest for Him to do so. For Him to do anything else would not be to love us purely. I have learned over the years that I can’t always trust myself and my perceptions but I truly can trust my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is not only faithful but He is oh, so ABLE.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I know Your ways are not our ways and Your thoughts, our thoughts.  Please help me to remember that when "crunch time" comes.  Help me not to look at the "weather" around me but to look always to the Weather maker! YOU alone are the answer.  You alone have the answers that I need. AMEN
